 Guided Imagery and Hypnosis

Guided imagery uses relaxation and one’s imagination to promote mental and physical health.
Hypnosis then deepens the relaxation in order to access the subconscious.  The subconscious is the where imagination and impulse live.  It is the subconscious that is so good in nudging us to have that extra piece of pie, just one cigarette, the next drink, etc.    So we work with it to help it understand that we need it to now help you in achieving what it is you wish to achieve.
 Tom Harris explains in “How the Mind Works” that the unconscious part of the mind  does the behind the scenes thinking.  Your subconscious mind accesses the vast reservoir of information that lets you solve problems, construct sentences or locate your keys. It puts together plans and ideas and runs them by your conscious mind. When a new idea comes to you out of the blue, it’s because you already thought through the process unconsciously.
The first part of a session of Guided Imagery or Hypnosis is guided relaxation, along with soft music and tranquil,natural sound, to help In order<class=”hvr”>promote feelings of relaxation.
Once complete relaxation is achieved,  imagery or visualization is used to improve mood and or physical well being. 
The connection between the mind and physical health has been well documented and extensively
studied. Positive mental imagery can promote relaxation while reducing stress.
This has been proven helpful to improved mood, in controlling high blood pressure as well as in helping to manage pain, boosting the immune system, even lowering cholesterol and blood sugar levels. 
There are a number of different types of guided imagery techniques.  
Some commonly used types include relaxation imagery, healing imagery, pain control imagery,
mental rehearsal of a situation or event to its ideal outcome.
